“White goods go to the country”, 100 TCL products added to the final list

On 14 May, the final stage in the “White goods go to the country” operation was officially launched. It brought about the sale of a large quantity of televisions and air conditioners. LCD screens (37 inch or wide screen) are going to be installed in the countryside for the first time. Modernisation enables production and distribution companies to meet demand from farmers and to get involved. The “White goods go to the country” operation therefore gave the large groups the opportunity to offer various complete products.

A hundred products from TCL Corporation appear on the final list. It was a resounding success. Up to now, 238 products from eight categories (including colour televisions, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, mobile telephones, air conditioners, computers and induction hobs) have been included in the list of products sold to people living in the countryside. This list has made TCL one of the brands that offers the broadest range and the largest volume of products. TCL Corporation is also one of the few companies that led the auctions in all 31 towns.

Since February 2009, the “White goods go to the country” operation has been well received by companies and farmers. However, the price of televisions, set at 206 euro, restricts farmers' access to LCD wide screens. So, during two plenary sessions, Mr Li Dongsheng, the Chairman of TCL Corporation, the Deputy of the National People's Congress and Mr Zhang Jindong, the Chairman of Suning Appliance, tried to find solutions to the problem. Their proposals, which were enthusiastically received, aim to establish ceilings on white goods prices adjusted to rural areas and to see to it that second hand goods are also offered.
